March is National Nutrition Month, an annual education campaign sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign is intended to increase awareness of the importance of making healthy food choices and establishing positive eating and physical activity habits.

Registered dietitian Julie Feldman and Spry Publishing today announced the upcoming release of Grocery Makeover: Small Changes for Big Results, a revolutionary diet and nutrition book that leads readers on an aisle-by-aisle journey to better health (Publication Date: April 2, 2013). In the spirit of National Nutrition Month, Grocery Makeover focuses on understanding basic nutritional concepts, learning how to make smarter decisions at the grocery store, preparing healthy meals that will appeal to adults and children alike, revamping negative eating habits, and taking manageable steps that can lead to major improvements in overall health and well-being.

In a recent interview, Feldman reflected the goals of National Nutrition Month as she discussed the philosophy behind her new book. “It is important to remember that you must be realistic with your health goals and nutrition standards,” she said. “Not every family is able to pay the $80–$150 per session it costs to meet with a professional dietitian. I hope this book can provide some very useful information in a way that can fit into anyone’s budget.”

Julie Feldman, MPH, RD, is an acclaimed public speaker and nutrition educator and is currently available to comment on a wide range of health-related topics, including National Nutrition Month, family nutritional planning, obesity, vegetarian and vegan diets, eating disorders, pre- and post-natal nutrition for infants and mothers, food allergies, diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, and cardiovascular disease.
